  1. First Entry on Anatomy and Physiology 2 Lecture and Lab.

A few days ago I had my first anatomy and physiology 2 lecture and lab classes. I am very excited about both! I am in love with learning how the body functions and why it does what it does.
My first anatomy and physiology 2 lecture class went very well. My teacher, Mr. Knoedler is an excellent teacher. He teaches through examples and jokes. He is very easy to communicate with as well. We just started learning the endocrine system and it's hormones. I'm so happy to understand everything he is feeding us. It let's me know I am going to succeed in this class. There is only one aspect I am not to fond of, and it is the class size. You have to understand that I enrolled here at Rhodes this past summer and took summer classes. My summer classes consisted of maybe ten to eleven students in each course. So you can see it is a little hard for me to get used to such big class sizes of say fifty or so. I know I will have to get used to it because hey, it's college and there's not much I can do about it except look forward to more summer classes.

Speaking of class size, I actually have a small anatomy and physiology 2 lab class. I'd say we have about twelve students in my class. My teacher Mr. Billerman is an excellent teacher as well. He will answer any question you have and help you with anything and everything. He goes through into so much detail about the body parts and why they do what they do. It's fascinating. I can't wait to see what we learn throughout this semester and what I am going to accomplish in this class. I expect to pass both of my classes with A's. By looking at the teachers I have obtained, it should be possible.

    1. Those classes sound like so much fun. I wish I could take classes like that, mine are all accounting and business. I wish I could throw in some fun classes to break up the seriousness of everything. I'm glad your enjoying then and sounds like your going to get some good grades, especially if your understanding it all. I'm having some trouble with my accounting class, but atleast I can get some help at the tutoring lab. I hope your still having fun with your classes and you get your A's.

  2. First Entry Dealing With My Career Path

Whhile going to Rhodes State College, I plan on majoring in nursing. When I first became enrolled at Rhodes, I was a radiographic imaging major. The reason for the switch was when I first got out of high school I wanted to stay at home and major in nursing. The only thing holding me back was the waiting list here at Rhodes. I asked about the waiting list for radiographic imaging and the wait was much shorter. Because of this I chose to major in radiographic imaging.
Once I got started here at Rhodes I got to thinking, if I can get good grades and maintain those good grades I could possibly get into the ACE program. The ACE program is basically an early entrance into nursing clinicals. With that in mind I made an appointment with an advisor and recently switched my major to nursing. Becoming a nurse has always been a dream of mine. I actually want to transfer to Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida once I graduate and get my bachelors in nursing. Once I accomplish that I then want to stay in school and become a nurse practioner. This is my ultimate dream.
I am more than excited about the thought of getting into the ACE program. Getting into the ACE program also means an earlier graduation date. The only thing that would make me the happiest person in the world is graduation early. It seems all I can ever think about is getting into school and getting out. With the help of this program I can surely graduate in Fall 2014! Just saying that makes me so anxious. It also gives me the drive to work hard in school and study, study, study! I tell myself it's only two years of my life that I have to devote to school. The rest, I devote to my future patients and family. Just knowing that I will have a good education under my belt makes me know that this is all worth it!

    1. Danielle, I understand why you choose to go into the radiographic imaging because that is what I am doing. I wanted to go into nursing but as the same reason you went, was because the waiting list was more shorter. But I was kind of happy because I love working with bones, so even if I did not get into nursing, I knew I would still like radiographic imaging! I think that is great that you got into the ACE that sounds amazing! Also that you get to graduate in 2014 of the flal is awesome! I can not wait until I graduate college as well, then I will finally have a job that I will actually like to do, and finally be done with school forever. Unless my job pays me to get a higher education, but for the most part I will be done fianally. But I am very happy that you got into the ACE to get done early!

  3. First Miscellaneous Entry On Comm 1110 class

The first day of comm 111 class was a little terrifying. I got to say I am not a person that likes to read, write or anything along those terms. Just walking into the classroom made me want to walk right back out. I honestly think this will be one of my toughest classes this semester. To get a better understanding of what I mean, lets just say I will have to do more work in this class rather than in my anatomy and physiology 2 lecture and lab.
The one hopeful aspect of this class is that it seems like I have a good professor that is willing to help if need be. It seems like a lot of work has been thrown at us, but in reality it's college and either I get used to it or I'm going to be in for some trouble along the way. The other students' in the class seem just as scared as I am, but I can already pick out some classmates who are going to get past this class with flying colors. It always irritated me knowing and seeing people that could write a paper with such ease and elegance. I like to say they're born with a gift. Unlike me, I have to work at just writing a thesis statement or even brain storming can be a challenge for me. All I can say is, when I pass this class hopefully with an A, (fingers crossed) I will be the happiest student alive.

    1. I completely, with 100%, agree on you very first sentence! The very first day of Com 111 seemed extremely terrifying. The first day of this class has scared the, for lack of better words, "petooties" out of me! No offense to Professor Piro but she takes the adjective, affirmative, to a whole new level. Not at all a bad thing, but a, somewhat, intense thing. Something that I will definitely have to grow accustomed to. Like you said, she's seems like she is a very good professor because she seems to know just about everything there is to know about writing! This quality she attains will certainly help me out! Like you also said, she made sure that we all knew she was willing to be extremely helpful.
When Professor Piro mentioned we would have to be blogging, I honestly thought it was going to be lame. Very, very lame. On the contrary, i actually found it to be uber fun! I enjoy just writing a bunch of my nonsense down, so, I think that I will revel in these assignments very much. Other than that, I am very similar to you when you say you are not much of a writer. I like to write about what I like to write about or something that interests me. Essays and other assignments I had to write in high school were not something I enjoyed doing, but I think that this class will allow it to become a lot easier for us.
My unprofessional opinion also believes that your writing is perfectly fine! We all need a little work here and there but that is exactly why we have to take the class! I think you will do very well and I have enjoyed your posts very much! :)

    2. I love the word "über." it is often underused, and there's no offense! :) there's a method to my madness, I promise!

  4. Nemat's "Secondhand Bookseller"

While reading "Secondhand Bookseller", I was getting pulled in deeper and deeper into Marina's actual life. I really like the way Nemat uses dialogue in her writing, it gives the reader a different way of looking at the characters and how we perceive them. Nemat is so descriptive with her choice of wording. I can picture books piled upon books in Albert's secondhand bookstore. I can feel the excitement Marina has towards this store like it was my own. Nemat really depicts how much she loves books by selling her only pencil case and all her milk money for the week, just to be able to buy another book and keep her imagination filled with authors words of joy, sadness, anger, excitement etc. Marina writes a wonderful story that I think anyone could relate too. When Marina gives a little insight about her life at the beginning of the story it helps the reader to actually feel like we know Marina. It amazes me that a 16 year old girl would be imprisoned for speaking her own mind and giving her own opinion. To me that is absurd. It's so amazing that she was able to escape and later on be awarded the very first Human Dignity Prize. That definitely says something about a person. I think Marina Nemat was just a kid who wanted to explore different worlds and the fantasy's that came along with them. I think reading books put her in a place where she didn't have to worry about anything else. It's a kind of world where people can speak their minds and say whatever they want to say and not be criticized for saying it. She just got sucked into the books like any other kid would, who loves to read.

  5. In Class Prompt #1 Self-efficacy

I wouldn't say I am afraid of writing. I am a person that just doesn't like to write. I have always been this way. I think some people have the gift to write well written stories, articles etc. I unfortunately am not one of those people. I will though, write when I have to and put 100% into that writing.
I think I could achieve self-efficacy from this class. In this comm 1110 class I see Mrs. Piro teaching all of us to not ne scared or frightened of writing and reading. We, as students need to embrace our own creativity and put that creativity into words for our writing assignments. Throughout this class I expect myself to have a different look on how to write and the appreciation on writing itself. I would like to say I am creative. Maybe not in the writign sense. I love art and drawing. It's something I wish I had more time to do. Now, I'm getting off topic. Back to writing and reading.
Reading has always gave me a relaxing state of mind. It let's me slip into a different world. Reading allows me to imagine things that I couldn't even think up myself. I can get lost in a good book for hours. Lately, I haven't had much time to read at all. I used to be at the bookstore all day everyday, especially in the summer. Now, since school has begun I can't seem to find time to read a good book. But, when I do have a little bit of free time I use it too sleep. I'm sure though if I found a good book, I would make time for myself to read it. But for now, that is going to have to wait.

  6. Reading Response #2 Bechdel

While reading this comic, I couldn't seem to jump into the story like I wanted to. To be honest, it was hard to read. I didn't like the wording she used. It made me more and more confused.
What I did understand about Alison Bechdel was that she grew up in a very creative family. Her mother and father has their differences. They seemed to be too consumed in their work which left Alison to grow up fast and do things on her own. She also grew up in a funeral parlor. How weird!? Her father's death seemed to agitate her in some way, it seemed. Maybe because of his sexuality? I dont know.
Some of the things that were mentioned in the comic, gave me the question, "Why is this in here?" For example, the appalacian ridges. I keep reading this part in the story, trying to make some sense of it. I came up with that it is a bigger picture to show how small their hometown really is.
Alison's title is very creative though. "Fun Home", refers to her house being a funeral parlor and her house also being an amusement park. This says her childhood home was chaotic, dark, uneasy, and misguided along with a lot of other things. Growing up in a home like hers sets the mood for the story. Especially at the introduction, mentioning she lives in a funeral home, kind of gives the reader an eery, lonely feeling.
I just wish I would have understood more on what Alison was trying to tell the reader.

  7. In Class Prompt #2

I brought one of my favorite books to class today. It is called, "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", written by Ransom Riggs. When I look at this books I see a little girl on the cover, she looks lonely, mysterious, and as the title says peculiar. When I touch the book I can feel the crisp pages stuck together. I can feel the texture of the books, which is smooth with little lines engraved into the cover. I can taste the excitement already flowing through each and every page. Also, the mystery it has along with it. Oh, what are the five senses again, taste, touch, sight, smell, and hearing. I cna smell the so called, "new book" smell, flowing off the bookshelf at the local book store. I can hear the author's words running through my head. The questions and thoughts Ransom Riggs leaves behind.
I can relate this object to reading because it is my favorite book. It is a mystery/horror book. Ransom Riggs brings about great detail throughout this book. I never used to be into mystery or horror books until after reading this one. I am hooked! I should also mention this is Riggs first novel too. He is also a short films producer. I am looking forward to seeing what else he will bring to the table. This book reflects on a child trying to figure out who or what murdered his grandpa. This young boy sets off on a journey to try and figure it out. This book is captivating. I would recommend it to everyone I know. So if anyone likes to read out their this should be your next pick!

  8. Second Entry About My Math Class

I really need to type a blog and all I can think of is my math class from earlier today. This means I must be really bored in order to blog about math. Math is not my best subject by far. I’d have to say my favorite subject is anatomy and physiology. I think it’s because I get really good grades in the class and it also deals with my major. Ever since I can remember I have sucked at math! I really try my hardest at it too. I would even go as far as saying I like doing math I just don’t get it sometimes. Thank God I have an amazing math teacher. Mrs. Bettinger actually takes her time to explain thoroughly the topic we are reviewing that day. We go over any questions that the students might have that refer to our homework. She offers to stay after class to help us understand any problems we still may have had trouble understanding.
Right now we are learning about integers and how to add, subtract, multiply and divide them. I understand all of it but subtracting. I get so frustrated and worked up when I don’t understand something. Thank goodness we have math tutors! I went they’re after class and within ten minutes I understood everything. Sometimes even when a teacher explains problems to you, you still may not quite understand. Every time this happens to me, you best believe I am going to go see a tutor. They’re only there to help us. All I want is to get an A out of this class and I will be extremely happy! Hope everyone else is doing well in there classes!

    1. Math is not one of my best subjects either. I am beginning to catch on more though. Like you I am learning to add, subtract and divide integers. I wasn't able to go straight into the Business Math like my major sayes I need to take but that is ok. I am willing to except that if baby steps is what I need to do to keep going up a level that is fine with me. I agree with you on that some of the teachers are wonderful and they will help you in anyway they can to help you succeed. And yes thank goodness also for the tutors at the learning center. I appriciate all the help that they give us and I express that alot when I fill the questionare out after the session. Im sure no one sayes anything bad about the tutors their but I do wish we wouldn't have to put what time we was their ( just incase something didn't go well), because all they have to do is look back at the schedule and think oh yea I remember that person, especially if you see the same one all the time. Two of my favorite people their are Tim and Juan. The problem with math is that if your not doing it everyday than for some people they forget what they have learned. I have found for some reason, and some problems, this happens to me. Right now I focus more on Reading and writing for Com class than I do on math and thats not good. I dont think Im goning to have a problem passing in that class though. For Com, I just got to wait and see.

Now that Com is about over though I am just beginning to understand more of it. I dont like writing the papers that we have to do but I enjoy this blog that we have to do. At first I was sceptical about having the time to do it but I make sure that it gets done because its part of our grade. The blog takes up alot of my time and I wish I could post more but I only have so many hours to get all six assignments done plus go to work. I am going to say though I put effort into it just like you. I cant wait to take a class that I am really going to enjoy. I am happy for you and glad you like your Anatomy and Physiology(?) classes. I am glad you are getting good grades also. Congratulations and keep up the good work!!! I know you are a smart lady and you can do this!!!!. Dont get to stressed about math, just give it time. I read somewhere where they said when learning any kind of Business Math , its something that you have to practice doing everyday to get better at it, than remembering it comes easy. Stay Happy and Healthy and I wish you lots of success in everything you do :)

  9. Second Miscellaneous Entry

Hi everyone! I thought I would talk about football today! As you can already tell my favorite sport is football. I’ve grown up around football all my life. Especially living in a small town that loves nothing but football. Football is the heart of Delphos. Going to St. John’s made me appreciate the sport even more. Every Friday night the whole town would meet at the stadium and root on our Bluejays! When I was in high school we had the best cheering section ever! I was so proud to call myself a Bluejay. I still go to the games today. I actually attended the last football game, which of course we won. It was great going back to the stadium where I have so many great memories. Watching football and being around football all my life got me into watching NFL football.
I am a Cincinnati Bengal’s fan! I love watching NFL football. I get so into the game I yell at the television and have even been known to throw things. I started watching the Bengal’s and NFL in general about four years ago. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. This year I actually get the privilege of attending one of their games. I will be going to the Bengal’s versus Steelers game! My family loves the Steelers so you can imagine how much fun I am going to have yelling for my Bengal’s at this game! I don’t watch much college football to be honest. If I’d have to pick a team I would most likely choose the Wolverines. Go Michigan! Only because I have a family member that used to play on the team. I hope there is more Bengal fans out there. I’d love to hear from yah. WHO DEY!!!

    1. I'm glad I know another girl who loves football. Although my team is not doing well this year at all again, Jerry Jones need to fire Tony Romo and pick up a better offensive live. Fan during good or bad. So you can tell I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I like Oregon State, Texas Longhorns, and Nebraska for NCAA. But I will watch any football. I have only been here a few years, but you are right that is all Delphos is all about football. All teams have some form of problem though right.

    2. I miss your posts on football. I've been trying to catch a game or two here and there. Looks like Notre Dame is doing good. Texas won yesterday, and I am quite surprised that the Cowboys won. I really do not know how. They have been not doing the greatest the last couple of years. A friend of ours has a daughter that is a steelers fan and her bday was a couple weekends ago. They got her and her dad Steeler vs. Browns tickets, she is so stoked. She made out like a bandit on Steelers stuff and loved every bit of it. I'm not sure who else I have watched lately, because of so much home work that I really needed done. Oh, well I misses a couple of games. How have you been doing with your team?

  10. Third Entry on Other Classes

This entry is going to be about my psychology class. I don’t even know where to begin. I really like learning about how and why people do what they do and learning about the brain but this class is something else. I’m not trying to be rude or mean in any way but my teacher is ridiculous! I won’t mention any names because that would be mean. The first day of class our teacher talked about his life and basically gave us some background information on him, his teaching, and his whole life story. The classes following that first class are all the same. The teacher either talks about his life lessons or will start a PowerPoint on the topics we are supposed to learn and go off topic and start talking about an issue we don’t care to know. I understand psychology is more than just what is from the book. I also understand that I paid money to go to this school to learn. I feel like this isn’t being accomplished. It irritates me so much that I already know when I go to class it’s going to be the same old thing. The class is going to consist of life stories and me doodling in my notebook or working on other homework. I honestly wish I had the courage to tell him how I feel in an appropriate manner of course. I already know many other classmates who feel the same way I do. The good thing is our teacher tells us the questions that are going to be on the exam so I know what to expect. Thank god because I honestly would not know what to study. I would have to read all the chapters word for word to even begin to get an idea of what would be on the test. I hope I’m not being mean. I just had to vent today and this is how it happened to come out. Have a good day everyone!

    1. Danielle, I totally understand what you are saying, I feel the same way with my Consumer Behavior class. I feel that this class is paid for and Im not learning much. Their is only seven of us in this class, but only three of us attend the class two days out of the week. I took the class to learn what I could about marketing and so far on a scale from one to ten I would rate it, at the highest, a four. All we hear is the test is going to mainly consist of word definitions, which he doesnt explain in simple form. We are on Chapter six and their is probally about fifty word definitions. Oh yippy!!. I think the best thing we can do though is not give up, reread the chapters if we need to, take notes, and think positive. Its up to us to make things happen for the good and if we just sit their, or anyone else for that matter, and not ask questions about stuff than I guess we are the blame for our own actions. No you are not mean. You are only expressing your feelings. Sometimes venting helps get what we are thinking out in the open and this helps to relieve some of the stress that is build up inside us. I am not one to express my feelings often. I keep things build up inside me for to long, but when the day comes that I'v taken to much I "Explode" ( Laugh out Loud). Than I take a deep breath, sigh, and say WOW, that felt good. Than Im all better. I hope you had a better day after this class was over!! By the way, I cant wait to take this class because like you I find it very interesting to find out why people do what they do and learn about the brain. Maby I will schedule it for Fall classes. Im not for sure yet.

    2. Mary, I always love reading your comments and or blogs! They are seriously so inspiring! I very much appreciate the advice you give. I feel completely the same with that we spend our money to get a good education but yet we tend to get a teacher or teachers that seem to ramble onto something other than what they are supposed to be teaching. It is so frustrating! I actually have a huge psychology class! I probably have around fifty or so kids in my class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I actually had to take this class because well I think it was required. I’m not 100% sure though. Oh my gosh this is so funny my teacher gives us all the exam questions and we are supposed to look up the answers. The first day I go to look up the answers in the book I can’t find any of them! It is ridiculous so I had to rely on my computer to do the work for me. Now I just go to Google or Bing and type in my whole question and it appears up on the screen on other students or teacher’s psychology tests or quizzes. It’s awesome!
You caught me in a moment where I really did need to vent and let me tell you I fell so much better! I am just like you I tend to let things build up over time and that is never good because I usually end up going off on someone that hasn’t even done anything to me! I actually like this class a lot more since I know how to study and find my answers now. You should definitely take this course I recommend it. But ultimately it’s your choice. Don’t let me scare you out of not taking it. I think it would benefit you a lot!

  11. Third Miscellaneous Entry

I figured I need to tell somebody about how my day has been going. Basically I need to vent! My day started off with my great grandmas funeral. So my day definitely started out on a damper note. The funeral was very nice as well as the visitation. After the funeral my family proceeded to a luncheon at my great grandmothers church. They had excellent food I must say. My family and I were there until 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. I had been studying for my anatomy and physiology 2 lab exam the whole day! I finally went home after the luncheon and tried to study some more before I had class at 5:30p.m. It was about time for me to leave so I gathered all my books and such. I made it to school with time to spare. I started studying again and noticed nothing was set up for the exam. I heard my teachers voice coming from another room across the hall. I went over to see him and asked why the exam wasn’t set up. he told me class was at 2:00. I had totally gotten my days mixed up! I was so mad at myself. But I honestly couldn’t of made it anyways because I was still at the funeral. He understood and said I could just come in the next day too take it. What an awful day! How could it get any worse! It didn’t thank God! I can’t wait to go to sleep now after such a day. Goodnight bloggers!

  12. Fourth Miscellaneous Entry

I figured I would blog about how happy I am to be done writing this lit. Narrative paper. I can’t believe I am finally done. The sad note I still have, what, three or four more papers to write though and an oral presentation in front of the class! I am so nervous for the oral presentation. I mean, in high school I had to take a speech class and I got an A out of it. But, come on that’s high school and I knew everyone I was speaking in front of. Now, being in college I find it more difficult, simply because I don’t know anyone. I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way though. Back to the other papers we still have to write. I like the fact that we kind of take baby steps to get to our final copy. I actually really like how Mrs. Piro teaches. I have to say I was skeptical at first but now after seeing the whole process we go though I feel more confident in my writing skills. It really helps breaking things down and picking them apart just to put a paper together. Honestly at the end of this course I see it bettering my writing skills more than ever. I already kind of like writing more just by taking this class. My boyfriend even asks me to help with his papers. My parents have also noticed a difference in my writing. It makes me feel great that I can start to enjoy something I wasn’t so fond of before.

  13. In Class Prompt #3

First off I love "How I Met Your Mother". I watch it every night. The characters are amazing and the dialogue is great. In this clip I loved how they were showing the future instead of them just sitting around on the couch talking about what they thought was going to happen. It kind of makes me wonder about the future and what I should be expecting. The clip also reflects on the characters different personalities, a lot. It shows Marshall, Barney, and Ted's depictions of their future. Obviously, if you have seen the show before Barney's future hasn't changed much. He is still chasing women around as always. ted is completely different. He actually ends up having a kid and is married. Marshall's life is almost the same too. Marshall is with Lily as always. I get really into the show because I feel it is relatable. I always see the things happening in the show, happening in my life as well. It's kind of funny actually, I think I have the same personality as Robin and Lily, maybe just mixed up a bit between the both of them. This also helps me relate to the show even more. Now, I'm only waiting to see what happens in the shows to come and how all the characters evolve.

  14. In Class Prompt #4

The hall was quiet until she heard a loud noise come from around the corner of the empty school hallway. Rose slowly made her way one baby step at a time. As terrified as she was she wanted to investigate where the sound was coming and what the sound was. Rose had little drops of sweat slowly trickeling down her neck onto her shirt. The sound was getting louder and louder as she was approaching the corner. Rose slowly peaked around the corner to see nothing. The loud bang happened once again getting further and further away. Rose knew this something had to be alive and wanted her to come find it. Rose began to slightly jog her way down the schools' corridors ending up in front of the basement stairs. Rose, very hesitant at this point decided she came this far that she wasn't giving up now. Rose slowly opened the door with a loud creak. The loud bang from before was getting quiter now but seemed to be right at the bottom of the stairway. Rose tried flipping on the light switch and of course the circuit was broken. Rose begun walkign down the steep, wooden, creeky staircase. The noise seemed to be makind an echo now. Possibly in a vacant room in the basement. Rose finally got to the bottom of the staircase and felt a huge gust of wind push her in the direction of the noise. Rose slowly made her way to the vacant room of the basement to see a little girl hunched over in a corner weeping. Rose asked the little girl if she was hurt or in any kind of trouble. The girl did not answer. Rose could barely make out the face of the young girl for the fact that her long, wet, brown hair was in the way. Rose began to walk closer to the little girl and as she got closer the girl vanished away. A figment of her imagination? Maybe.

  15. Reading Response #3 Juno

"Juno: Not Just Another Teen Movie," was written or better words evaluated by Ali Heinkamp. Heinkamp does an excelletn job at evaluation Juno. She has a consise description of the subject. The reader completely understands what Heinkamp is talking about due to her examples throughout the reviews. She doesnt not summarize the movie in any way but yet evaluates it. She only provides what us readers need to understand in order to fully comprehend the review. Heinkamp also clearly defines the criteria that she is using. Heinkamp evaluates the film based on the emotions being portrayed, the realism of the situations throughout the film, the characters and their dialogue. Heinkamp also represents a good knowledgable discussion of the film. Heinkamp cites many examples from the film as well as critics. She also gives a well balanced and fair assesment throughout her evaluation. She always backs up her statements or judgments with evidence. All of her judgments seem to be balanced and fair. She tends to point out not only strengths but weaknesses as well. Like I said before she has evidence supporting her judgments. Provide reasons. And this is exactly what Heinkamp does. i feel heinkamp quickly summarized the plot of Juno in the beginning paragraph then lead on to evaluate the film accordingly. You can tell Heinkamp did her research for this review according to her cites from the movie and other critic reviews. I can simply learn and take notice to Heinkamp's style of writing in order for me to write an exquisite film review of "The Cabin in The Woods."

  16. Reading Response #4 "007 Is Back; and He's Brooding"

After reading "007 Is Back; and He's Brooding", three times I have come to the conclusion that I do not fit the audience that this film review is towards. Yes, I understand he is critiquing the movie and telling me or the audience about the characters, weapons, technology, music etc. I just do not understand the choice of words the author or film critic is using. I do understand the set up or thesis of this evaluation. That is quite noticeable. Another thing I don't understand is Scott defining the phrase "Quantum of Solace." If this evaluation of 007 was set to a more broad audience I may have understood it better. I hope I am not the only one who didn't understand this film critic's choice of words. I hope to learn in this next comm class the point of meaning of this evaluation. I hope Mrs. Piro doesn't expect us to write like Scott has in 007. I feel like I would have to get a dictionary out for every word I would be using in my evaluation. This is exactly how I felt reading 007. I think Mrs. Piro was trying to show us an example of how a well known and renound film critic's work is written. Which in this case Scott's work is written fairly well, now only if I could read it, I may be more interested. Hopefully by working in our groups I can pick up on some new ideas on how to write and other writing styles.

  17. 5th Miscellaneous Entry

Today I thought I would talk about my day and how unmotivated I really am! On Friday’s I only have one class at Rhodes and that is Anatomy and Physiology 2 Lecture. Granted it is only from 11:00am to 12:20 pm I still had the hardest time getting out of bed and getting ready for class. I honestly thought about skipping just because I did not want to drive a half hour for school. It’s really not that bad I’m just that lazy (laugh out loud). But of course I went because last time I didn’t show because of a death in the family I missed a lot and am completely lost on everything they went over. Luckily I went and know what is going on now. After class I kept telling myself that I was going to go home and get all my homework done so I could have the weekend to do whatever and just relax. So as of right now I have only done my math homework and now my blog. I really should study for my three exams coming up within the next two weeks plus a quiz. I have exams in A&P 2 lab and lecture and psychology. Then I have a quiz in my math class. On top of all this I still have to freewrite my paper on “Cabin In The Woods” and write my paragraph on an episode from “Smash”. I don’t see any relaxing in my future just stress. Hopefully I can get all this accomplished by the beginning of next week! Wish me luck!

I don't like it when one class totally takes over all others, to where thats all the homework you seem to get done. Hopefully things will even out for you as time goes on. Good Luck

    Body 2
During the "Bombshell" episode of Smash the scenes tend to be very jumpy. In order to follow along with this exciting, drama filled show, one would have to begin by watching all previous episodes. This specific episode "Bombshell" seemed to transition poorly. One minute Karen, (Katherine McPhee) would be performing on stage and the next minute Julia (Debra Messing) would be reminiscing on her marriage and how it is in a poor and rocky state. Another interesting aspect of this episode was the dialogue.

    Politics
I don't like politics at all! They disgust me, and I never know what they are talking about. I actually watched a little bit of the 2012 Presidental Debate between Mitt Romney and Barrak Obama the other night. The only reason I was watching the debate in the first place was because of my boyfriend. He had been flipping through through the channels and came across it. Of course he had to watch it to. In a sense I guess I should too. All I got out of watching the debate was Romney tripping up Obama a couple of times I thought. Obama would just get a huge smile on his face and laugh to himself. I think the debate should be more focused on getting the younger audiences attention. I mean, we are our countries future. At least that's what I here a lot. From what I hear or see many young people know nothing about Obama and Romney's sides. A lot of people say they are not even going to vote. In a way I can completely understand where they are coming from. I honestly don't know who I am voting for yet, mainly because I don't know anything about government regulations, foreign affairs etc. Hopefully soon I will be able to understand.

    1. Danielle, I give you a high five on that one :). I dont like politics either. But I will say that I did hear about the remark that Romney said against Big Bird and PBS the next day. He had to bite his tongue because he didnt even know what he was talking about. Here he thought that the public broadcasting show of Sesame Street was highly funded by federal funds and supposely their not. I guess their is alot of talk about how the politicians need to cut government spending so he used Big Bird has an example, which this only opened him up for attacks ( laugh out loud). I guess after that comment Big Bird was the most talked about person on Facebook, Twitter, Google and a lot of other places, this is what I heard. I just found it a little foolish for Romney to even mention Big Birds name just because of the federal budget.
I didnt watch the debate because i had no interest to. But I do agree with you on how the younger audience is our future. For me I see neither one of them working on Social Security reform or anything else thats going to benifit me when I get older. I wont be voting again this year but I will say we need someone besides Romney or Obama has a president. And just like you I dont know alot about the government regulations or foreign affairs and all that other stuff either. My husband says it all has to do with money and people controlling people because of it. We can only hope that things start to get better instead of worse.

Georgia, sphagetti, Red Riding Hood, jacket.

In a little town in Georgia there lived a young girl names Red Riding Hood. Red Riding Hood waws planning on going out sledding with some friends of hers that day. Red Riding hood began to put on her jacket when all of a sudden her mother yelled, "STOP!" Red Riding hood stopped in her tracks. She began to complain and asked her mother why she had to stay home with her. Her mother said, "It is a special day. It is your father's birthday. We have to make your father's favorite dinner." "What is it?" Red Riding Hood asked. "It's sphagetti." her mother answered. Red Riding Hood had agreed to help her mother cook her father's favorite dinner. They began to boil some water and heat up the sauce. Once the water was boiling, Red Riding Hood threw the noodles in. Once the noddles were cooked Red Riding Hood's mother drained the pasta and poured it into the sauce. Shortly after they were done cooking the father arrived home to a house filled with the smell of sphagetti. He was so surprised to find out that Red Riding Hood had helped cook the best dinner ever!

    1. Danielle, this is a wonderful story that you made up about Red Riding Hood. You are a very good writer who can think of a good storys right off the top of your head and I enjoy reading them. It's strange to be writing about Red Riding Hood when all that comes to my mind when I say or think of the name is A BIG BAD WOLF. While I was reading your story I had to come to a halt because the mother said STOP!, that right their got me wondering what you was going to write about next. I can picture Red Riding Hood stopping dead in her tracks. If it was me I probally would of tripped over my shoe string and fell on my a**. Red Riding Hood must of been young for her to not know that it was her fathers birthday and what his favorite food was lol but yet old enough to go sledding with her friends. This 10 minute writing doesn't give me long enough time to think about a story. But yours totally goes with the flow and it all blends in well. I can almost smell the speghetti being cooked and the aroma filling the whole house. The relationship with her mom must of been a close bond because of a child to not go sledding and stay home to cook dinner would be very unusual. Most defiantly a good story!! I made up a second version of Red Riding Hood and I would like for you to read the silly thing. It seems you and I are the only ones that post the most on here so here it goes.

Here is a silly version of Red Riding Hood that I made up. Here we go lol. Little Red Riding Hood had such a Twinkle in her eye. She lived in a big mansion in Mia, Georgia, with so many children she didn't know what to do. She ask the baker to make her a cake as fast as he could. She got to pat it and prick it and mark it with b's and put it in the oven for her children and she. They sat down for supper and ate cake and spaghetti and loved every minute they spent together. Than she heard the clock strike one, and saw the mouse run down, so she knew it was time to send the children to bed. She kissed them soundly and read them a story when a spider sat down beside her, and scared Mrs. Riding Hood away. One of the children that loved spiders began to jump on the bed (like a monkey) and the rest of the children followed. They jumped high and low till the spider broke his head and the children went tumbling after ( the spider). The mother with dispare thru a jacket over her head, and ask what are you doing?. She told them to get down, and they began to get silly, and was singing 1-2 buckle my shoe, 3-4 shut the door, and than their was a big fat hen. The mother said "you need to go to bed!". So good night and sweet dreams my lovely children. ( This is my fairy-tail story of red riding hood)

  21. Reading Response #5 Seelye's Article

In Seelye's article about magazines using numbers on their front covers in order to sell multiple copies seemed all over the place. I understood the gist of it but really got bored after the first page. Her analysis was a little overwhelming at times. Seelye definately got right down to business at the get go. I would say her title is effective in the sense that it plays along with the article as a whole. The audience for this type of article is definately one that I am not included in. The article seems to be speaking to a well educated business man or woman. Seelye also seemed to limit her quotes to interviews alone. I think, in a way this can be effective but it also would have been helpful to broaden the citations a bit. She could have used an online source or really any other source than all interviews to convey the message she wanted to portray. Her sources are remarkably great considering they are from editors and founders of other popular magazines. It does help in some aspect to interview these people and obtain their feedback but it also could have done in another way. This article I feel did give me a little insight on what I need to do in my next paper, the text-pix investigation. It made me realize I need to pick my audience, stance, and format. All of this I will take into consideration while preparing to write this paper.

  22. Second Entry on My Career Path

Today I figured I would talk more about becoming a nurse. Ever since I was little my mom would tell me I loved to play doctor. I like to think that that's when it all started. Throughout high school I changed my mind plenty of times. It went from becoming a psychologist, to a counselor, to a doctor, to a physical therapy assistant, and finally to a nurse. I know a little ridiculous right. But for my defense I was only seventeen. Personally, I think that that is way to young to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. I think I am making the right decision though. After Rhodes I plan on attending Florida Gulf Coast University to get my bachelors then masters which then I could get my nurse practitioners license. This is my ultimate goal! I know I can do this with hard work and determination. Going to Florida Gulf Coast University would mean the world to me! I've always had this dream of attending a big university. Just experiencing that would be amazing. Seeing everyone go to college after high school and me going to beauty school never set right with me. I always felt like I was the one missing out on the whole college experience. It was then that I decided I wanted to go into nursing. Helping others was what I wanted to to do for the rest of my life. Just the thought of becoming a nurse makes me very happy and nervous all at the same time. But I am ready for something new!

    1. It sounds like you have a plan and I hope you can achieve it. It's so nice to hear people talk about wanting to help others, especially if they are sick. I give you props. Not many people could do what you want to do. I like nurses unless, they seem to hate their job. When your young everyone changes thier mind and at the very least eveything you wanted was in the medical field. sounds like you have always wanted to help others. I could not do it. i don't have the patience for it, I'm so glad others do. As far as the big college experience you never know you could get there. If you get a good job sometimes they will pay for your schooling, and that would make it nice. I hope you can reach all your goals, but I don't think you need a big university for a good college experience. Just saying.

  23. Entry #4 On My other classes (Analysing Visual Text)

For my visual text I decided I would like to have a brochure. My brochure is on understanding childhood obesity. Throughout this brochure I have noticed that it is supposed to be viewed by a vast audience meaning anyone can read this. The brochure uses a 7th grade and up reading analysis. They rarely use big words in the brochure and if they do they simply define the term. The brochure also gives plenty of facts that are backed up by the U.S. General Surgeon and plenty other accredited people and places. The childhood obesity brochure uses bullets to list important facts that a parent should watch out for in children with their food habits. Using this tool, I think helps the reader to understand easier what the brochures message is and what it is trying to get across. The brochure has quite a few charts throughout it where a parent can try and find out their kid’s body mass index, they can measure the growth of their child etc. This brochure gives out a lot of helpful and easy information to read. They talk about the latest topics. The format of this brochure is simple it has easy to read headlines with facts that an average reader can understand. I think my article on the NAACP with Michelle Obama will be coherent with the brochure on Understanding Childhood Obesity. I can’t wait to actually begin writing this paper because this is actually something I feel strongly about. Childhood obesity has been becoming an epidemic that needs to be fixed. Just by reading the article and brochure I was amazed at the facts that were introduced to me. I can’t wait to start writing my paper and I hope everyone else enjoys it!

  24. In Class Prompt #12

While watching the Remix videos in todays class I witnessed a lot of common things that never came to mind for me. I never really thought that everything we think up or of is a copy of someone elses original thought. Everything we think of is based off of someone elses thoughts or ideas. Movies, books, food, toys etc. There a literally millions of millions of things that are copies. Everything also needs a patent now to make sure that your idea is safe and secure from any other person being able to take your idea and make it their own. While on the subject of copying and having patents more and more people, business's etc. are suing companies for basically taking their idea and making it their own. It was said in video 4 that Microsoft ended up suing more than seven companies because they were stealing their ideas of how to make a computer and the components within that computer. They successfully sued all of the major companies for instance apple, one of the biggest, grossing companies around in today's world. I couldn't believe it Apple got sued. I think of Apple as the number one major computer/phone seller in the country and for them to be sued honestly makes me laugh. I guess in today's world it is hard to think up new ideas and creations that havent already been thought up in someone elses mind. It's kind of sad to think of it that way but it's the truth. In today's society nothing is ever an original anymore its a copy of someone elses idea manufactured to fit the other person's wants and needs.

  25. In Class Prompt #14

One night Chris came home from school mad at the world. Screamign at the top of his lungs, "Why is she so dumb!" "Does she really think that I wouldn't find out?" Chris's parents then asked what was wrong. Chris began to tell them that Hayden had lied to Chris about where she was the other night. Hayden had told Chris that she was at a friends house when really she had gotten a job as a bartender at the local bar. Hayden knew Chris would be upset so she figured she would hold off until she had been working their awhile. At school the next night Chris's friends had gone out to the bar and saw Hayden working and brought it up to Chris through conversation. That's when Chris came home livid at Hayden complaining to his parent's about the situation. Chris's parents were amazed at how mad Chris was. They knew Hayden was the perfect girl for Chris so they decided that they would try and talk some sense into Chris and hook them back up. First they sat Chris down after he was done spiraling out of control. They then asked Chris the things or aspects he liked about Hayden and the most important one he mentioned was that he loved her. They said that's all you need. Sometimes their are going to be fights and arguments you may not like but you can get through them. Not by arguing with each other but by merely sitting down and havign a conversation about the problem. Chris then realized that this was not something to get so worked up about and that he needed to talk to Hayden right away. Chris called Hayden up and apologized. Sometimes your parents can be right yah know. They're not as stupid as they may look Chris thought. Chris thanked his parents and set up a date with Hayden the next night.
